Honda's seven-passenger, crossover sport-utility vehicle comes powered by a 244-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine that includes an electronic throttle system. Front-drive models come with Variable Cylinder Management in which half the engine's cylinders are shut down at cruising speeds for added fuel efficiency.

The Pilot's available VTM-4 (Variable Torque Management-4WD) system combines the best aspects of four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. As with most all-wheel-drive systems it's normally a front-drive vehicle that sends power to the rear wheels automatically when needed, but when conditions become seriously slippery, you can engage and lock 50 percent of power to the rear wheels at the push of a button.

The 2006 updates include newly standard side-curtain airbags, exterior styling tweaks, and other revisions designed to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness.
