The Fit is a subcompact five-door hatchback sedan that slots in below the Civic as Honda's least expensive new car. Designed to be small on the outside, but big on the inside, the Fit has a roomy, five-passenger-capable interior with signature "magic seat" layout that makes it possible to carry objects as large and unwieldy as a standard-sized bicycle. It comes with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder VTEC engine developing 109 horsepower, with either a standard five-speed manual or available five-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The Fit is a high-efficiency model capable of returning 38 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg in city driving. The base model comes standard with side curtain airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and door locks, as well as an AM/FM stereo with a single-disc CD player. A Sport model can be ordered that comes with 15-inch wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifter controls (automatic-equipped models), rear spoiler, body kit, cruise control and a 200-watt audio system with six speakers, MP3/WMA playback and auxiliary iPod input jack.
