Element

Honda's Element continues to offer a unique alternative to conventional sport-utility vehicles with its boxy shape, dent-absorbing plastic body panels, and rear-hinged "suicide" back doors. Its rear seats flip to the side or fold flat, to afford easy cargo access and storage. Back seat riders enjoy limousine-like legroom, reclining seats, and a rear sunroof. Of interest to active individuals, parents with young children, and pet-owners, its urethane-coated floor can be washed out easily. The Element's 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine generates an adequate 160 horsepower and drives either the front or all four wheels via a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Anti-lock brakes are now standard across the line. A new-for-2006 EX-P version includes body-color-painted side panels and door handles. New exterior colors include Alabaster Silver, Proton Blue Metallic, Kiwi Metallic, Tango Red Pearl, and Tangerine Metallic.
