The full-size Savana van can serve to either carry a bus-load of passengers or haul a full complement of tools or building supplies. Like its counterpart at Chevrolet, the Express, the Savana is available in either short- or long-wheelbase lengths with a variety of available load capacities and powertrains. For 2005, StabiliTrak stability control now comes standard on extended-wheelbase 12- and 15-passenger models. A 275-horsepower 4.8-liter V-6 comes standard, and both a 285-horsepower 5.3-liter and 300-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8s are offered, all are coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. A natural-gas version of the largest V-8 is also available. The base model can be equipped with all-wheel-drive for added traction on wet roads.
