GT

This eye-popping, low-slung limited production, aluminum-bodied high-performance coupe continues for 2006 for what will be its final production year. It exists as a rolling homage to the GT40 racecars that dominated competition at Le Mans during the mid-1960s. Manufactured in conjunction with noted performance tuners Saleen and Roush Industries, the GT runs with the best of the world's exotics, albeit at a sticker price that runs into six-figures. Its mid-mounted 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine produces 550 horsepower and allows the car to reach a top speed of over 180 mph. A Ricardo six-speed manual transmission comes with a helical limited-slip differential. Precision-cast aluminum suspension components with 18-inch wheels and tires up front and 19-inch rims and rubber at the rear contribute to the GT's race-car-like handling prowess. To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Ford's first win at Le Mans, the 2006 GT is offered in a limited edition Tungsten Silver body color.

Rich in history, richer in speed.
