Charger
Sharing platforms and powertrains with the Magnum wagon and Chrysler 300 sedan, the Charger returned to Dodge's lineup this past summer as a 2006 model. Unlike the classic muscle car, however, the exciting new Charger comes with four doors instead of two and it lives up to its heritage with rear-wheel drive and plenty of pavement-pounding acceleration. A 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine and five-speed AutoStick automatic transmission come standard, along with anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction control, and stability control. The R/T version offers a 340-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, though this tends to slow the car's handling a bit because of the added weight over the front wheels. In addition, a limited-production Daytona R/T variant packs a 350-horsepower HEMI V-8, along with a stiffer suspension, unique styling cues, and exclusive paint treatments. If that's not enough muscle, a newly added SRT8 version comes loaded with a specially modified 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 that produces an explosive 425 horsepower, which is enough to propel the five-passenger wagon from zero-to-60 mph in around five seconds. Options include a performance handling package, heated seats, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, Sirius satellite radio, and a Bluetooth wireless connection system for cell phones.
