Chrysler drops the price on this uniquely hot-rod-styled wagon for 2005, which makes it a better value than before. A two-door four-seat convertible version of this versatile hot-rod-retro wagon debuted in 2004 as an early-2005 model. While the vehicle's trademark flexible seating remains, it's useful as a cargo carrier only with the top down. A small rear cargo door can accommodate long, flat objects with the seats folded flat, however. A 2.4-liter 180-horsepower turbocharged engine option was added to the line in 2004. Otherwise a naturally aspirated 220-horsepower version of that powerplant comes standard, while a higher-output 200-horsepower turbo drives the front wheels in the top GT model. Either of the three engines can be mated to a standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed Autostick automatic transmission. Optional equipment includes such high-tech features as a Sirius satellite radio receiver, a satellite navigation system and a hands-free interface for "Bluetooth" enabled cellular telephones. A limited-production PT Dream Cruiser convertible is added for 2005 that comes with the turbocharged engine and is painted in Deep Lava Red paint with a maroon cloth top, chrome grille accents, and 17-inch Satin Silver-painted 15-spoke wheels.

As the PT Cruiser drops its top, will sales go up?
