Chevy’s full-size pickup rolls into calendar year ’07 on a new chassis that’s three inches wider in front and one inch wider at the rear for enhanced stability. The new design retains the fully-boxed layout and boasts improved structural rigidity over the previous design. The interior and interior are also redone, with a “fast” 57-degree windshield, a wider and taller grille, and reflector-optic headlights defining the new exterior look and a much more refined and spacious interior than previously separating the cabin of the ’07 from its predecessor. Three cab styles are available — regular, extended, and crew cab — as are three cargo box lengths: 5’8”, 6’6”, and 8’. The ’07 Silverado comes in WT, LT, and LTZ trims with either rear- or four-wheel-drive. The previous LS trim remains available through an exterior styling option package on this year’s model. Engines offered are extensive and begin with a 4.3-liter, 195-horsepower V-6 and continue through 4.8-liter (295 horsepower) and 5.3-liter (315 horsepower) V-8s, cresting in top of the line models with a 367-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8. All models use a four-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3-liter engine is available with E85/flex-fuel capability. The 2007 Silverado can tow as much as 10,500 pounds when properly equipped.
