Aveo

Introduced for 2004, the subcompact Aveo is supplied by General Motors' Daewoo subsidiary in South Korea . Like the former Daewoo Lanos upon which it's based, the car boasts exterior styling created by Italy 's highly regarded Italdesign studio. It features a taller roofline than most small cars, which affords added headroom, taller seats and better outward visibility. Available in both four-door sedan and hatchback models, the Aveo is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a slim though fuel-efficient 105 horsepower. The standard five-speed manual transmission is recommended to wring the most out of the car's diminutive powerplant; the available four-speed automatic gearbox comes with a gated-shifter. Standard features in the base model are few, while the top LS versions add amenities like air conditioning, power locks, keyless entry, and a CD stereo. Anti-lock brakes, aluminum wheels, a power sunroof, rear spoiler, and fog lamps are optional. For 2005, the car's powertrain warranty has been increased to five years or 60,000 miles, up from three years or 36,000 miles.
