2005 marks the final run for Cadillac's most-traditional full-size luxury sedan. Next year it will be replaced by a new model, to be called DTS, as the automaker redesigns its entire car line to appeal to younger and more affluent buyers. This year the DeVille receives three new exterior colors and a sixth-generation version of the OnStar communications system. This remains a plush, roomy, and accommodating full-size sedan that makes few pretenses besides offering powerful acceleration, ample accoutrements and a soft ride. A 275-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 engine powers the base and DHS sedans, while the top DTS version is fitted with a higher-output 300-horsepower version. Last year, heated and cooled front seats and a heated steering wheel were made standard on DHS and DTS versions, and Cadillac's unique Night Vision system became available on the base model.
