CTS

The dramatically styled entry-level rear-drive Cadillac offers a new entry-level model for 2005 that comes powered by a 2.8-liter V-6 engine that nets 210 horsepower. The CTS' base powertrain remains a 220-horsepower, 3.2-liter V-6 that's teamed with a five-speed-manual gearbox. Last year, a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with variable valve timing and a dual-outlet performance exhaust was made newly available; for 2005 it can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. A top CTS-V version includes a 400-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8, the six-speed manual transmission and other upgrades. With a zero-to-60 mph time at less than five seconds, this is said to be Cadillac's quickest sedan ever. Front-side and side-curtain airbags and GM's OnStar communication system are among its many standard features, and a generous options list includes StabiliTrak stability control, a GPS navigation system, and XM satellite radio.

With a little more polish for the badge, this Cadillac moves forward, quickly.
