Rendezvous

Buick's crossover sport-utility vehicle receives a revamped lineup of powerplants for 2006. The CXL Plus model replaces the former Ultra at the top of the line and comes powered by a new 3.6-liter V-6 with variable valve timing that's rated at 242 horsepower. Meanwhile, the rest of the line now receives a 3.4-liter V-6 that generates 201 horses, which is up from 185 last year. A four-speed automatic is standard across the line. Standard equipment includes a CD stereo, dual-zone air conditioning, keyless entry, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with touch controls. Available amenities include a touch-screen navigation system, rear park assist, XM satellite radio, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. An optional third-row seat expands its passenger-carrying abilities to seven. The OnStar communications/safety system becomes standard for 2006, while a new monochromatic exterior treatment includes a revised grille design. In addition, Buick increased its bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage to four years or 50,000 miles on all 2006 models.
