Buick’s version of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy SUVs carries over into 2007 with minor changes, including the latest version of GM’s OnStar communication system with “turn by turn” navigation assistance, a standard tire pressure monitoring system, and two new exterior colors — Midnight Blue Metallic and Graphite Metallic. Otherwise, the Rainer is unchanged from 2006. The standard engine is a 4.2-liter in-line six that generates 291 horsepower, with the optional engine being a 5.3-liter V-8 good for 300 hp. The V-8 includes a displacement-on-demand feature to help conserve fuel. Both engines can drive either the rear or all four wheels via a four-speed-automatic transmission. GM’s StabiliTrak stability-control system is standard on all Rainier models, as are dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a driver information center with digital compass, full-size spare tire, remote keyless entry, and power front seats with two-position memory settings. Curtain air bags are available optionally, along with a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, XM satellite radio, and MP3/upgrade stereo system.
