Acura's more stylish and luxurious version of the Honda Pilot crossover SUV continues for 2005 with relatively minor changes. It remains at or near the best in its class in terms of performance, features, and comfort.

The standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine was upgraded last year and produces a top-rated 265 horsepower, with 253 lb-ft of torque. It drives all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. Its seven-passenger interior includes a third-row seat folds flat into the floor to maximize cargo volume as needed and front, front-side and side-curtain airbags with a rollover sensor for safety's sake.

Because it's based on automotive underpinnings, the MDX handles more predictably than most truck-based SUVs, and benefits from a four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes and Vehicle Stability Assist. Many comfort and convenience features come standard, with a voice-activated navigation system and a DVD entertainment system being its only factory options.
