How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

The Toyota Venza is a more compact crossover than Toyota's Highlander, and that makes it a suitable choice for parents and for older drivers that need easy exit and entry, and less fuss in general.

The Subaru Tribeca comes with standard all-wheel drive, but it's a little dated, especially inside.

The Nissan Murano and Mazda CX-9 are quite the opposite; they're both racier and have sportier tuning, but the Murano has less space, while the CX-9 still manages a very roomy interior.

Another model worth considering is the Honda Accord Crosstour; its roofline and seating arrangement don't afford quite as much versatility as the Venza, though.

The Ford Edge has recently been redesigned, with a fresher look inside and out, as well as a more powerful V-6, and its interior tech is now more advanced with the available MyFord Touch system.

If you don't need a rugged SUV, the 2014 Toyota Venza is a practical, even stylish alternative with some strong wagon and hatchback leanings.

An exceptionally comfortable interior, great connectivity, and a 30-mpg turbo model succeed in elevating the 2014 Ford Edge above the crossover clutter.

The 2014 Honda Crosstour doesn't have a clear niche: it promises more room than the excellent Accord sedan, but doesn't net much extra space under its hatch.

The 2014 Mazda CX-9 is one of the most engaging large crossovers from the driver's seat; but the CX-9 is no standout for efficiency, like the brand's newer cars.

The 2014 Nissan Murano is stylish and refined, but lacks some of the space and efficiency found in competitors.

The 2014 Subaru Tribeca is a solid choice if you're a family who needs all-weather handling, but its old design and poor fuel economy may leave you looking elsewhere.
