How does the

The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

The Subaru WRX flogs its rally-ready hardware with the best of the compact-sport segment.

It'll always and forever be linked with the Mitsubishi Evolution, an aging warrior that's destined to be remembered fondly, what with its videogame driving feel.

The Ford Focus and Mazda 3 are the two most interesting alternatives to the WRX; the Focus ST is a rorty blast to drive, bristling with edgy performance and trim, while the Mazda 3 has extravagant styling and good road manners, though it doesn't yet have a new Mazdaspeed3 ready for sale.

Finally, there's the current VW GTI, about to be replaced but still a worthy competitor, with excellent steering and ride quality, not to mention an upright cabin that manages to be both sporty and spacious.

A lack of refinement and a poor interior will limit shoppers' interest in lower-trim Lancer models, but the Ralliart and Evolution cars both offer thrilling performance for any climate.
