Not so much focusing on price, the Smart has a combination of size and style that’s unlike anything else in the U.S.

market and on these grounds competes with lifestyle cars like the MINI Cooper and perhaps even hybrids like the all-new Toyota Prius.

But soon it won’t be the only mini making a strong statement; next year the competition is expected to heat up even more with the arrival of the four-seat Scion iQ minicar, as well as the Mitsubishi i electric car.
