Although the Chrysler PT Cruiser and Chevrolet HHR are several years gone, we can't help but compare them to the Scion xB as there's nothing otherwise quite like it today.

The Nissan Cube and Kia Soul are otherwise closest.

The Cube has some of the same flaws as the xB; it doesn't contain as much cargo space as you might expect, although its seating is comfortable.

The Soul is more like a tall-and-boxy version of a small hatchback, and it drives that way as well.

The Kia Forte five-door is another alternative, one with less outright cargo space than the Soul or the xB.

The sharp-handling MINI Cooper Clubman rivals the xB in size and accessories, but it costs thousands of dollars more.

The Hyundai Tucson is one of the smallest compact crossovers and another good alternative to the xB—although its far more conventional-looking.
