Nissan's 370Z Roadster is even more powerful than the 2013 Boxster, but it's not nearly as light or nimble, nor as luxurious; the Infiniti G37 Convertible matches the 370Z's power, and while it closes the gap in terms of luxury, remains heavy and large-feeling in comparison to the Boxster.

The BMW Z4 is also potent, particularly in top-spec trim, and is perhaps even more passenger-friendly than the Porsche, but lacks its dynamic, truly sporty character.

The Audi TT does luxury and style as well as the Boxster does, but its nose-heavy balance and front-biased power delivery likewise bring it up short for the true driving aficionado.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
9.2
The 2013 Porsche Boxster is one of the most fun, stylish, and luxurious roadsters available.
8
While the performance-per-dollar value of the 2013 Nissan 370Z remains largely intact, enabling it to play with more expensive sports cars for less money, rising prices narrow that advantage.
8
The 2012 Audi TT gets a burst of testosterone and sports-car cred with a bold new TT RS model; otherwise it's a surprisingly well-rounded (and economical) performer.
7.8
The 2012 BMW Z4 is a great option for the driver seeking a balance of fun and comfort, making it a great light tourer, but it can quickly become expensive with added options.
7.8
The Infiniti G37 Convertible doesn't suffer the usual styling compromises, but it's a little less exciting to drive than its Coupe cousin.
