Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

The 2012 Nissan Titan comes in a single powertrain configuration, which puts it at a disadvantage with the leaders of its class.

The Ford F-150 has four new engines with great gas mileage and muscular power ratings--and the F-150 has SYNC, too.

The Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are a little dated themselves, but their wide range of powertrains and bed lengths makes them a great choice for commercial duty.

The Ram 1500 is no longer a Dodge, but the butch Dodge look remains--and the Ram is one of the best-riding, best-trimmed full-size trucks, period.

The Toyota Tundra isn't quite the sales fail that the Titan is, but its odd styling and very tall proportions are off-putting, though its quiet, strong performance is just the opposite.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
7.4
The 2012 Nissan Titan has held up well over a long lifespan, but its gas mileage, towing and hauling, and performance have fallen to the back of the full-size pickup truck pack.
7.4
It counts a savvy Hybrid model in its ranks, but mostly, the 2012 Chevy Silverado appeals to the prosaic truck buyer that doesn't need as much in the way of infotainment.
8.2
Efficient and burly, the 2012 Ford F-150 shares the lead in full-size trucks thanks to extreme capability and extreme high-tech features.
7.6
The 2012 GMC Sierra has one of the greenest pickup trucks in its lineup, but some of its early spec-sheet triumphs have been bested by the latest F-150 and Ram.
8
Just as tough as the competition, the 2012 Toyota Tundra isn't quite as rugged-looking, as fuel-efficient, or as strong in the towing department.
8
The 2012 Ram 1500 is big and burly yet very detail-oriented; and for those who want a good ride and refined interior, it's one of the best bets.
