The Nissan Quest is no longer in the flexibility ballgame with the Chrysler minivans--and with the Kia Sedona taking the 2013 model year off, it's now the least reconfigurable minivan on the market.

That leaves plenty of options for savvy minivan buyers, starting with the trio of Chrysler minivans, which includes the Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, as well as the badge-engineered VW Routan.

All share a V-6 engine and six-speed automatic; safety options differ, but crash scores are excellent and the third-row seat tucks away for a flatter load floor.

The Sienna has all-wheel drive on its options list, giving it a broader appeal, along with great safety scores.

Honda's Odyssey has a stylish appeal outside, and vast interior room, but to get Bluetooth and a six-speed automatic, you'll spend nearly $40,000.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
7.2
Road manners are good--but when it comes to core minivan duties like seating and safety, the 2013 Nissan Quest falls behind every other minivan on the market.
8.2
The 2013 Chrysler Town & Country is tops in safety, flexibility, and features--the things that matter in minivans--though it's pricey.
8.2
Function reigns supreme in the Dodge Grand Caravan: it has the best seating system and infotainment features of any minivan, and gas mileage and safety scores are excellent.
8.2
The 2012 Honda Odyssey is the priciest of the minivans, but innovative seating and excellent handling set it apart from all the rest.
8
It's not as flexible as some minivans, but the 2012 Toyota Sienna is large, safe, and still has options for four-cylinder power and all-wheel drive.
7.8
The Volkswagen Routan isn't very different from the Chrysler minivans--and that means top safety performance and features, with a little less than best-in-class flexibility.
