How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

There are a number of popular alternatives to the Murano, and you're likely to find most of them a bit roomier inside.

However the Murano stands out for its strong, smooth powertrain, good handling and maneuverability, and near-premium feel inside.

Both the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX are very smooth and have available hybrid versions, but they lack the personality and standout design character of the Murano.

The Dodge Journey is a surprisingly good alternative--also with a design that stands out in a crowded class--although it's more utility-oriented, almost van-like inside.

The Ford Edge now has an edge with its efficient turbocharged four-cylinder model and with MyFord Touch, its LCD- and voice-driven system for controlling audio, phone, climate, and navigation.

One other good alternative is the new 2013 Acura RDX; it's quite as exciting as the former turbocharged RDX, but it's smooth and refined like the Murano, but with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission, a good list of features, and a better seating layout, all for about the same money as one of the higher-trim Murano models.
