Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

A showboat in many ways, the 2012 Lincoln MKT has some other striking competitors, and some more sedate.

The Acura MDX is among the snooziest of the kind, but its big eight-passenger interior and anonymous looks have glints of personality, though we don't care for the beavertooth grille or its overly light, quick steering.

The Audi Q7 is all about being tasteful, but it's quite expensive the way you'd really want to own it (as a diesel).

Buick's Enclave has polite, pretty curves, but it's missing some of the tech features and the turbocharger from the big Lincoln.

Lastly, there's the Ford Flex, the MKT's mechanical twin and its polar opposite.

All square corners and MINI and Range Rover references, the Flex is fabulous in its own way, though only a bit less controversial than the MKT.
