The Ferrari 458 Italia is the Gallardo's closest competitor on supercar status and price, but without all-wheel drive it lacks some of the all-weather friendliness of the Lamborghini--though it replaces it with even higher performance levels and superior handling.

The Audi R8 is closely related to the Gallardo, sharing a similar engine and all-wheel drive performance, but its looks are more restrained and its behavior is a touch more refined.

The Porsche 911 is the best all-around car in this bunch, with practicality the others can't attain--while delivering the same thrilling levels of performance toward the upper end of its model range, though it doesn't cut quite the same figure as the more exotic alternatives.
