With its radical new looks, the 2012 Jaguar XJ fits into an evolving class of sleekly reimagined, high-end luxury sedans.

You could opt for a ritzier, more technologically inclined Audi A8--or get just as many frills with the lissome, lighter Audi A7.

A Mercedes-Benz S-Class beats the XJ on prestige and safety features, but it's not as striking, leaving that chore to the lesser, but more beautiful CLS.

Lastly, we'd suggest a relative bargain in this group, the Infiniti M56.

With just a V-8, it's nearly the breakout performer of the group thanks to excellent handling, and its interior is a graceful piece of design with a touch of silver dust on top, if you're in an extravagant mood.
