Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

There's been some turnover in the full-size, luxury-SUV category since the Infiniti QX56 was new in the 2011 model year.

The Lexus LX 570 has returned to the market, essentially unchanged and still as gargantuan as ever--and not so distinguished from the Toyota Land Cruiser except in wood trim and color combinations.

The Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator are nearing the end of their life cycles; both are the kings of bling, and tip their hats to huge towing capacity, with the Escalade getting the nod for its plethora of body styles and available Hybrid model.

The Benz GL is brand-new this year, improved in almost every way, from infotainment features to its new power-folding second-row seat; its diesel edition is our favorite among the full-size luxo-utes.

Finally, the Range Rover is heading toward retirement: a brand-new vehicle, spun from the Jaguar XJ architecture, is due for a world debut in the fall of 2012, with a curb weight up to 500 pounds less than today's vehicle.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
8.4
If a need still exists for full-size luxury SUVs, it'll be fulfilled by civilized utes like the Infiniti QX56.
8.4
Especially if towing capability matters, the 2013 Cadillac Escalade is one of the most luxurious--and most fashionable--luxury SUVs you can get.
7.6
A luxurious SUV with limited appeal, the Lexus LX 570 isn't quite at home on the range, or on the interstate.
7.2
The 2013 Lincoln Navigator feels uniquely American in a way that's unmatched by most other big SUVs; but it's behind the times in many respects.
8.8
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL Class is a pricey way to go, but it's a luxury family wagon with great fuel economy and road manners, and some thoughtful new safety and luxury features to boot.
9
It can't rightly be called a value, but the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover delivers a truckload of ability and exclusivity along with its admittedly huge Monroney.
