2014 INFINITI QX50 vs. Its Competition

2014 Infiniti QX50
Bengt Halvorson Bengt Halvorson Deputy Editor

From the outside--and even from within the cabin--the Infiniti QX50 is one of the most distinctive luxury crossover models.

It's definitely more enthusiast-oriented and driver-focused than virtually all other offerings roughly its size and shape.

The BMW X3 is one of the more engaging options to drive, with a roomier back seat and far more economical powertrains--even if you go for the top xDrive35i.

The Audi Q5 is quite luxurious and handsome, but can ride harshly and gets quite expensive.

The Volvo XC60 is a little more family-focused, with lots of safety technology and a sleek interior, with great cargo space; but it's not nearly as engaging to drive as the EX35.

Quick Specs
8.0
The 2014 Infiniti QX50 has the performance (and attitude) of a sport sedan, along with rich, warm cabin appointments and standout tech; but compared to almost any other crossover its interior isn't very useful behind the front seats.
7.8
The 2014 Acura RDX offers a relatively sporty look and driving feel, as well as a quiet, comfortable interior and top-notch safety; but features or flair it's no standout.
8.4
The 2014 Audi Q5 gets quite serious about fuel economy with TDI power; it's still one of the most elegant, truly carlike luxury crossover SUVs.
8.2
The 2014 BMW X3 is one of the sportiest-driving yet most fuel-efficient compact crossovers; and especially if you're not budget-limited you'll almost certainly be happy with its useful technology options and finely detailed cabin.
8.4
The 2014 Volvo XC60 keeps in sync with Volvo's reputation for safe, luxurious wagons–just in a taller crossover package.
