Right up against the BMW 3-Series is where Infiniti wants to be with its G37 Coupe; and for the most part, this model measures up, providing a sharp, athletic driving experience, as well as a design and overall feel that simultaneously channel true sports cars and more plush luxury coupes.

The G37's a strong competitor to BMW's 3-Series coupe, even if the G37's IPL edition isn't in the same league as the multifarious M3.

Both get more heat from Mercedes, now that the C-Class comes in two-door form--even as an AMG.

The pretty Audi A5 comes up a little empty-headed when it comes to performance, but its high-performance S5 variant is a fast, mature touring car.

Lexus' IS sedans and convertibles are also worth a look, though they feel small and tight, and with the smaller V-6, underpowered.

The Nissan 370Z is another alternative that only the die-hard enthusiast crowd might consider alongside the G37; it's not as refined or as luxurious as the G37 Coupe, but it's a brilliant performer.

Just beware that engine and road noise are omnipresent—to a much greater degree than in the G37.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
8.2
The 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe is a sexy, lavishly equipped luxury car that isn't quite up with its German targets for refinement, but enthusiasts may prefer its sharper performance.
8.6
A pretty, talented family of coupes and convertibles, the A5 lineup ranges from the black-sheep CVT Cabrio to the unabashedly awesome RS5.
8.6
The 2013 BMW 3-Series is safe, fuel-efficient, and well-connected, yet it delivers the class-leading performance and handling that enthusiasts have come to expect.
7.4
The 2013 Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 look like exciting sport sedans--especially in F Sport guise--though they're not as fun to drive or even as fuel-efficient as other small sport sedans.
8.2
For those who are image-conscious yet value-conscious, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C Class sedans and coupes make a lot of sense.
8
While the performance-per-dollar value of the 2013 Nissan 370Z remains largely intact, enabling it to play with more expensive sports cars for less money, rising prices narrow that advantage.
