How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

Many of the three-row vehicles on the road today have lost their rugged backbones from years past.

The most car-like of these are probably the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia; they're not as wide as the Explorer, but they offer strong V-6 engines and optional all-wheel drive.

The Acadia Denali's interior is especially upscale.

The Honda Pilot feels plasticy by comparison, but offers good driving dynamics and lots of functionality.

The Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee technically share the same platform, though the Jeep isn't offered with a third row.

That said, they're a fantastic pair of vehicles, and both offer a little (or a lot) more off-road capability than can be found in the Explorer.
