How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

The 2015 Chevy Trax enters a market segment that's just about to explode with new entries.

Right now, only the (pricier) MINI Cooper Countryman, refreshed for 2015, and the (larger) Subaru XV Crosstrek offer five doors and all-wheel drive in vehicles smaller than compact crossovers.

But in the next 12 months, we'll see the Honda HR-V, the Mazda CX-3, the Jeep Renegade, and the Fiat 500X as well.

The HR-V offers the supremely flexible Magic Seat interior, perhaps giving it the best packaging.

We'd expect the CX-3 to be the most fun on the road, like other Mazdas in their segments.

And the Fiat 500X offers sexy TV ads and perhaps a different-than-the-rest Italian flair.

At the other end of the spectrum is the Jeep Renegade, which has super-boxy styling and can actually be optioned up to ‘Trail Rated’ off-road capability.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax offers a useful hatchback shape in a smart package that's more practical than it is stylish.
The 2016 Honda HR-V splits with the Fit in its exuberant styling and optional all-wheel drive; it promises to be one of the top subcompact crossovers.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 joins the subcompact crossover fray, with a brand reputation for good handling and economy behind it.
The 2015 Renegade is Jeep’s ace card—a stylish, affordable small crossover that carries on the brand’s rugged mission, but with an eye to the city; it’s chunky, cheeky and doesn’t look cheap.
