The standard Chevy Tahoe has some also-ran competition from the likes of the Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia.

Both are a bit larger than the Tahoe and could rightfully be compared with the larger Chevrolet Suburban.

They're also less appealingly styled than the Chevy.

The true competition for the gas-powered Tahoe is the handsome, capable Ford Expedition.

For hybrids, GM pits its Tahoe Hybrid against its own Yukon Hybrid-but you might also shop the diesel-equipped Mercedes-Benz GL350 BlueTEC, which has fantastic torque and very quiet clean-diesel operation.

Meta Rating
7.6
The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is very comfortable, capable vehicle, built on tough, traditional building blocks; and especially in the sophisticated Tahoe Hybrid, it's no dinosaur.
7.4
For those who have to haul people and tow, the 2011 Ford Expedition provides truck toughness in a well-rounded wagon.
9
A nimble ride and elegant, tough styling help the 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class charm the mud right off a Range Rover.
7.4
Rugged good looks and a strong powertrain make the 2011 Nissan Armada desirable, but compared to other large SUVs its lacking in most other respects.
7.4
The 2011 Toyota Sequoia offers good towing ability, powerful V-8 engines, and a macho, over-the-top look, though in most other respects its hard to make a practical case.
