2014 Chevrolet SS vs. Its Competition

2014 Chevrolet SS

The Dodge Charger SRT8 is probably the most direct rival to the Chevrolet SS.

The huge, 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 in the SRT8 is breathtaking, and the Charger is a very comfortable car; but it's hardly lean and balanced when the corners get tighter and less predictable.

The Ford Taurus SHO is a completely different kind of car, packing a turbocharged V-6 with all-wheel drive.

It's a big comfortable car, and while it's probably not in the same league as the SS for performance, it drives much better than you might expect.

The Infiniti M56 is another rival in performance; it's a bit more of a luxury car, with beautiful, plush cabin appointments, but it does pack a big V-8 (note, it's being renamed the Q70 for 2014).

Otherwise it's hard to believe that a Chevrolet sedan starts at just two grand less than a Jaguar, but that's now the case.

You could get a Jaguar XF--albeit a four-cylinder one--for just a little more.

Quick Specs
7.6
The 2014 Chevrolet SS is a true 'sleeper' sedan -- packing the Corvette's glorious 6.2-liter V-8 into a sedan bodystyle that's relatively anonymous, yet well tuned and up to the task.
8.2
The 2014 BMW 5-Series is simultaneously a classic sport sedan and a technology-packed grand tourer.
8.0
The 2014 Dodge Charger's interior may surprise luxury car shoppers, but it'll definitely delight the blue collar crowd.
8.0
The 2014 Ford Taurus continues in its role of luxury and technology flagship for the Ford brand, but it remains compromised by its lack of rear-seat headroom and legroom
8.8
The 2014 Infiniti Q70 sedan range is fast, fun-to-drive, better to look at, and comfortable--a world-class combination.
8.2
With backseat space as the one caveat, the 2014 Jaguar XF lineup can at once be refined, nimble, and a scorcher of a performer in XFR or exclusive XFR-S guise.
