The 2013 Cadillac SRX now offers more technology than any of its competition.

Compared to the SRX, the styling of the Lexus is restrained—some would call it dull—but it has been updated for in-cabin technology.

Both the Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5 are slightly smaller than the SRX but offer more engaging driving dynamics.

The Volvo also offers the City Safety system, which might help avoid accidents in low-speed driving.

Mercedes-Benz updated the GLK for 2013 with new styling and and some off-road capabilities the SRX can't match.

The BMW X5 remains a rival, and while it's more satisfying and nuanced behind the wheel, the SRX is arguably a bit better in cabin appointments.

BMW's X3 could also be seen as an alternative, but its iDrive interface hasn't evolved to anything like GM's CUE, and the X3's interior seems cramped in comparison.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
8.2
The 2013 Cadillac SRX has a roomy, rich, uniquely American interior, and with new interior technology it's now the iPhone of crossovers.
8.4
The 2013 Audi Q5 is one of the more carlike crossovers, with elegant execution, smart high-tech features, and very good passenger space.
8
While it's not as fresh-faced as some of the competition, the 2013 BMW X5 continues to shine in utility, comfort, driving, and, in the X5 M, shockingly high performance.
8
The 2013 Lexus RX is plush and premium, and it delivers on that luxury impression, but it's not the over-the-top lavish expression some might seek.
8.2
It looks more like an authentically rugged SUV, but the improved 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK has carlike road manners and now, better fuel economy with both its gas V-6 and its new turbodiesel four.
8.6
The 2013 Volvo XC60 carries on the tradition of Volvo wagons--even their top-of-the-class safety--only in a modern, fashion-conscious crossover.
