Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

The most direct rival to the Cadillac Escalade is the Lincoln Navigator--which hasn't changed in years wither.

While it's very close to the Escalade in size and purpose, the Navigator feels very conservatively styled inside and out.

The Escalade's V-8 completely outpowers and outclasses the 5.4-liter in the Navigator.

The Mercedes-Benz GL Class isn't as roomy inside, but its smooth powertrains and excellent cabin appointments make it tempting, even if its interior isn't quite as spacious overall.

The Infiniti QX56 and the Lexus LX 570 have some measure of off-road ability, but their on-road handling suffers.

One other alternative is the Land Rover Range Rover, which probably has even better street recognition than the Escalade; but its interior also isn't as roomy.

The Range Rover's off-road prowess does however make it a good alternative for those who plan to take to the trail.

Quick Specs
Meta Rating
8.4
Especially if towing capability matters, the 2013 Cadillac Escalade is one of the most luxurious--and most fashionable--luxury SUVs you can get.
7.6
A luxurious SUV with limited appeal, the Lexus LX 570 isn't quite at home on the range, or on the interstate.
8.8
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL Class is a pricey way to go, but it's a luxury family wagon with great fuel economy and road manners, and some thoughtful new safety and luxury features to boot.
8.4
Infiniti's civilized the full-sized SUV about as well as Land Rover has--but does the world still need big utes like this one?
9
It can't rightly be called a value, but the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover delivers a truckload of ability and exclusivity along with its admittedly huge Monroney.
7.4
Lavish and large, the 2012 Lincoln Navigator is luxury, American-style, but its powertrains are a step behind those of the competition.
