2015 BMW X4 vs. Its Competition

2015 BMW X4
Marty Padgett Marty Padgett Editorial Director

The X4 carves out more style from BMW's mid-size SUV package--but if you're more practical and carry adult passengers, you'll probably be better off with the more conventional roof of the excellent BMW X3.

At that point, you'd be remiss if you didn't also drive the Mercedes M-Class and sample its great diesel edition.

Looking at something a little smaller and more stylish, the long-running favorite in this niche has been the Audi Q5, and it's a testament that its design still looks amazingly fresh after all these years.

Of course, you could slip into something more comfortable in the shape of the sizzling new Porsche Macan, the best-handling SUV we've yet driven, or the Range Rover Evoque, a stiletto of an SUV that spins the Land Rover badge in an entirely more fashionable direction.
