How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

There aren't many other choices when it comes to high-performance luxury sedans in the BMW M3's size class, but the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG could be a solid alternative.

With a potent engine and track-bred styling, the new C63 is as head-turning and as smile-inducing as the last M3.

Audi's S4 is not quite as sharply tuned as the M3 or C63 AMG, or even Audi's own RS5, but if you don't require as much spice with your sugar, the S4's clean aesthetics and refined interior may be more appealing to you.

For the way the M3 is used, we'd suggest some coupe alternatives, too--namely the outgoing Cadillac CTS-V two-door, a car capable of stunning acceleration, and the Porsche Cayman/Boxster duo, our choice when brilliant handling is the first and only requirement.
