Though the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class and SL-Class are quite a bit pricier than the BMW 6-Series, they're close in form factor, features, and overall capability.

The BMW offers better value, for the most part, while the Mercedes cars offer a bit more visual flair and drama, inside and out.

The 2012 Porsche 911 is a superb driver's car with surprisingly practical traits, and, base Carrera or Cabriolet form, very competitive on price as well, though you'll sacrifice some of the 6-Series' comfort for the improved handling and sportiness.

The Jaguar XK or Maserati GranTurismo are very similar in both performance and quality to the BMW, but with a slightly more exotic, expressive look some buyers may prefer, particularly in the case of the Maserati.
