Bentley's place in the luxury-car ionosphere leaves most shoppers a little breathless, but a few coupes should be on the short what-if list before you sign up for the $200,000 Continental GT or GTC.
Maserati's GranTurismo is significantly less expensive and far more sensually styled, but there's no all-wheel drive, and it doesn't quite have the snob appeal, though its sonorous V-8 and exceptional interior make up much of that difference.
The other big hustler from England is Aston Martin's Virage, and it's an extremely powerful rear-driver with coupe and convertible body styles, and an impeccably styled and finished interior.
For all-wheel drive and better four-seat capacity, there's the Ferrari FF, with its bulbous styling a polarizing factor that undercuts the added value of its prancing-horse badge.
