The Audi Q5 claims some popular turf in the crossover market; it's sized right and looks great, and has Audi's rising brand behind it.

The Mercedes-Benz GLK has prestige for days, and some true all-road capability, as well as a new diesel version this year; the boxy styling's themed more like an SUV, if that matters.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, is the most urban, carlike vehicle Land Rover has ever produced--it's an SUV-ish stiletto, attractive inside and out, with good performance, and it's quite fuel-efficient.

The BMW X3 grew larger in a 2011 redesign, and has excellent interior space and performance now to match its high price.

Finally there's the Cadillac SRX, a stylish and relatively new entry in this size class, with crisp good looks and good on-road maneuvers.
