While there is no shortage of high-performance, luxurious grand touring coupes on the market, the Aston Martin DB9 still is a suave alternative to the slightly more mainstream choices.

The Bentley Continental GT's almost part of the landscape in southern California; it's a beefy counterpoint to the lithe Aston look, but its exquisite interior trims offer more variety and its powertrains are more up to date.

The Ferrari California offers similar performance and style with the added benefit of a retractable hard top, though it's considered something of a Lexus SC 430 among Ferraris.

The Maserati GranTurismo is almost dead even with the Aston on all measures, but it's somewhat less expensive, and to some its sultry looks are altogether sexier than the more reserved British sports car's bespoke suit.
