How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.

Our expert editors build comparisons like this one to make it easy for you to understand the small handful of cars you should compare to whatever car you are already looking at. You get general thoughts on each car you should consider plus an easy way to compare basic information for yourself.

The Toyota Prius may seem an unlikely comparison car for the ILX, but it's priced around the same point, offers many of the same features, and, against the ILX Hybrid, offers far superior gas mileage.

The 2012 Buick Verano may be the ILX's closest natural competitor, aimed just as much at the entry-luxury market as the ILX, but with just one powertrain configuration and a somewhat more mature aesthetic.

The Camry Hybrid is actually a size up on the ILX, and can cost considerably more, but for young families looking at a hybrid sedan, might be a more useful all-around choice--with noticeably better gas mileage around town.

Lexus' HS 250h scores slightly worse on the gas mileage front than the ILX Hybrid, and offers a similar level of entry-luxury trim and features, but might appeal to those that don't enjoy Acura's styling.

Audi's A3 is also priced near the top of the ILX's range at its entry point, but offers a more refined look, Audi's brand recognition, and more dynamic performance while also adding the utility of a hatchback's cargo area.
