Bottomline The 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee works well on road and trail, but a cramped interior and low fuel economy indicate that there are better choices for suburban families. The 2008 Toyota 4Runner isn’t as roomy or as efficient as newer crossover designs, but if you need towing or off-road capabilities, it’s a good, safe choice.
