Bottomline Don't look to the 2008 Ford Taurus X for driving excitement, but otherwise, it's darn near the most perfect family wagon there is. The 2009 Toyota Highlander's mass appeal has grown even more massive with the addition of a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine for base models.

  • "Light" off-road capabilities

  • Too-soft suspension
  • Cramped third-row seat
