Bottomline If you plan to tow, a 2008 Dodge Durango with a V-8 will work nearly as well as a Tahoe or Expedition, at a lower price. As the perennial best-selling truck-based SUV, the Ford Explorer is still the one to beat. If you have a load to pull on a regular basis, the 2008 GMC Envoy might make sense. Otherwise, you can do better when hauling passengers.
