Bottomline Families can do much better with any of the more modern crossover SUV designs—including Chevy’s own Traverse—but the 2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer is still a good vehicle for towing purposes. Much less of a cute-ute than it used to be, the 2008 Jeep Liberty defines SUV-lites by not being one.

  • Better on-road ride
  • Replaceable fender flares

  • Lackadaisical acceleration
  • Trucklike ride and handing
  • Quality of interior bits
  • Tight rear legroom
  • Not great fuel economy
