Bottomline You should only consider the 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer if you frequently tow; even then, most truck-based alternatives handle much better. If you plan to tow, a 2008 Dodge Durango with a V-8 will work nearly as well as a Tahoe or Expedition, at a lower price.

  • Retro 1990s design
  • Not as safe as newer crossovers or truck-based rivals

  • Comfortable seating
  • Features—like MyGIG—stray from the norm

Dislikes:

  • Slightly smaller than the full-size utes, but not any more maneuverable
  • Bouncy ride and queasy handling
  • V-6 doesn’t offer any fuel-economy advantage
  • High loading height in back
