Bottomline While the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette provides plenty of impressive performance to dream and/or brag about, this car is not a one-trick pony. If ever there were a practical sportscar, this is it. The 2008 Dodge Viper is a stunning performer, a great-looking sportscar in any body form, and still a handful on public roads. You could pilot the Space Shuttle with a PlayStation controller—or you could just sample the 2009 Nissan GT-R, one hellish lightsaber of a supercar.

  • 505-hp Z06 and 638-hp ZR1 performance models
  • Less expensive Convertible for 2009
  • Available leather-wrapped interior

  • Base interior can feel a little drab

  • Bold, brash styling

  • Buttoned-down handling
