Bottomline While the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette provides plenty of impressive performance to dream and/or brag about, this car is not a one-trick pony. If ever there were a practical sportscar, this is it. The 2008 Dodge Viper is a stunning performer, a great-looking sportscar in any body form, and still a handful on public roads.

  • 430-horsepower "base" model
  • 505-hp Z06 and 638-hp ZR1 performance models
  • Less expensive Convertible for 2009
  • Available leather-wrapped interior

  • Quality issues persist, but are getting further and fewer between
  • Base interior can feel a little drab

Likes:

  • Bold, brash styling
  • Formidable power
  • Buttoned-down handling
  • Blindingly fast

Dislikes:

  • Doesn't like driving slowly
  • It's loud and rough
