Incredible road-going convenience, or sign of the obesity Armageddon? It's both! According to the KickingTires blog, which got it from Gizmodo, which passed it on via CNet, a British Web site is offering an in-car microwave for your culinary cross-country trips. Need a burrito piping-hot on the Tehachapi freeway? Or maybe some jambalaya while you're sitting in New Orleans traffic on I-10 at...

You waited long enough for the 2009 Ford Flex--and now you want that authentic Country Squire look without having to resort to shelf paper, scissors and a keen eye for straight edges. No need to worry--an aftermarket company's all set to Woody-fy your Flex and make it into something we all predicted would happen (hell, we even ran spy shots of a Flex with some kind of wrapping paper applied to...

Ford says the 2010 Lincoln MKT has the green light for production, and will be shown off at January's Detroit auto show . The MKT is based on a concept from last year's Detroit show. A three-row crossover, the MKT is derived from the mechanical set that also spawned the 2009 Ford Flex , but Lincoln says the two vehicles don't share a single exterior panel or interior trim piece. Lincoln previewed...

The Detroit News takes the helm of the U.S.S. Obvious this morning, reporting that the Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus X are headed for the end of the road. The notion is that with the Ford Flex in production, Ford showrooms don't need the slightly smaller, slightly less attractive Taurus X crowding...

When it comes to mid-size sedans , who are the top four players? Toyota Camry . Honda Accord . Nissan Altima . Chevrolet Malibu . These cars sell in big numbers. Even though Mazda has had an entry in this 2-million-unit-per-year class, the previous Mazda6 never posed much of a threat to the sales leaders. This may change with the new 2009 Mazda6 . The new 6 is designed expressly for the North...

As Ford folks predicted behind the scenes earlier this year, the vacuum-inspired 2009 Ford Flex has earned five-star frontal- and side-impact ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Flex also gets a four-star rating for rollover resistance from the NHTSA. Ford says the ratings for the new Flex are higher than those of the Toyota Highlander . Standard safety...

The V-8 is dead. Long live the V-8. Probably nothing is more symbolic of America’s love affair with the automobile than the classic eight-banger. It’s the engine of choice for muscle car knuckle-draggers, luxury car aficionados, and truck haulers alike. And until recently, V-8s were stuffed under the hood of nearly a third of the vehicles sold in the U.S. market. Industry observers have long...

The favorite soap opera at Ford isn't the company's ongoing troubles with Mercury , or plummeting truck sales--no, these days it seems to be the travails of Cecilia Marquez. Marquez is the heroine of the Spanish-language, online soap opera called Amores de Luna . It's the story of a woman who seems to have everything, except a career as a writer, something we have dreams of too, here at...
