VW, make it a turbo diesel plug-in hybrid and that'll get some REAL buzz going.

You fail to mention in the article that the Bulli is an EV (from the pictures). Now that's exciting.

How can the king, who is dead, live a long time?

If this was being made now I'd be the first one to sign up. I like the idea of a diesel or fuel cell (How about an air engine) extender engine to charge the batteries and have it be an all
electric awd vehicle... why not use the new engine in wheel concept and save all that weight of a transmission and differential. extender engine (whatever it is) would have plenty of room alongside battery pack... there are two great companies out there producing them... Michelin, Smart Electric Drive, Protean Electric Drive System - The Leader)

My wife and I owned a Westfalia (Westy) Camper Microbus in the late 70s. A wonderful vehicle, with horrible brakes and a less than strong motor. We camped in as much of Europe as we could reach in those days and fully enjoyed the Microbus adventure. Too bad the Bus is going away.

The "Bully" concept might be a good replacement, but it has to be aero and fuel efficient if they really want it to catch on.
